Johnathan Lane
Tidenham District Councillor
Standing for Lydney County Council
My Story
Johnathan is a dedicated husband and father of four who has devoted his career to education and community service in the Forest of Dean.
With 17 years of teaching experience, including his role as Head of Sixth Form at Wyedean School until 2022, he has been instrumental in shaping the futures of countless students. Currently, he continues his commitment to youth development as a student mentor at both Wyedean and Dean Academy.
In 2023, driven by a passion for social justice and reducing inequality, Johnathan transitioned into political activism.
He successfully stood as the Green Party candidate for Tidenham, securing a position on the Forest of Dean District Council and was appointed to the cabinet with the Economy portfolio. The devastating impact of Storm Bert in November 2024 on the Lydney community prompted Johnathan to run for County Councillor for Lydney.
Johnathan has observed a disconnect between the general public and elected officials, particularly concerning pressing local issues such as primary school places, reduced police presence, and the closure of the town hospital. Many residents feel unheard and are uncertain about whom to contact for assistance.
Committed to bridging this gap, Johnathan is determined to listen, act, and make a tangible difference for the people of Lydney. He believes that by addressing these challenges collaboratively, the community can build a more equitable and thriving future for all.
